With profound sorrow, yet with unshakable hope in the life-giving promise of the Resurrection, the Council of Bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA announces the repose in the Lord of the Very Reverend Fr. Mykola Krywonos, long-time pastor of the Elevation of the Life-Giving Cross Ukrainian Orthodox Parish in Utica, New York.
Father Mykola peacefully fell asleep in the Lord, completing his earthly journey after decades of prayerful, humble, and self-sacrificial service to Christ’s Holy Church.
For many decades, Fr. Mykola stood before the Holy Altar as a shepherd who knew and loved his flock. He baptized and buried, comforted and guided, prayed and labored, always with a quiet dedication that reflected the humility of Christ Himself. His pastoral life was one of steadfast faithfulness, compassion for the suffering, and a love that embraced all who entered the doors of the Church.

O God of spirits and of all flesh, Who has trampled down death; You have overthrown the devil and have given Life to Your world: now give rest, O Lord, to the soul of Your departed servant, protopriest Mykola, in a place of light, a place of refreshment, a place of repose, where there is no sickness, sorrow, nor sighing. As You are a Good God Who loves mankind, forgive every transgression he has committed in word or deed or thought. For You alone are without sin; You alone are the Resurrection, the Life, and the Repose of Your newly-presented servant, protopriest Mykola, and to You we give glory, to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, now and ever and unto the ages of ages. Amen.
The Council of Bishops requests that all parishes remember Fr. Mykola in their prayers and liturgical commemorations, entrusting his soul to the boundless mercy of our loving God.
May his memory be eternal! Вічная пам’ять!
